There is a king. One who rules with justice and with mercy. One who is strong and humble. One who is relentless and kind. One who wages war and avenges the helpless. One who is vast and near. Has no limits, no boundaries, no master.
There is a king.
Age after age, time after time, rulers rise and kingdoms fall. Men attempt to exalt themselves to a throne they can not withstand, a position they can not hold, and a mission they can not fulfill. Some mean well but have their limitations. Some are self-seeking, looking out only for their own promotion and glory. Some are brave and ambitious, gaining the applause and approval of their people. Some are wicked and cruel, oppressing their subjects, crushing them under the weight of their fierce power.
The people cry out, searching for a leader who can rid them of their injustices and the weight of governing regulations and taxations. Their fears and their uncertainties continue to grow and multiply, leaving the nations of the world in constant pursuit of the one who will bring peace, the one who will bring justice, the one who will bring salvation.
But there is a king.
There is one king...One who cut through the expanse of eternity into a moment of time that He created; putting on the commoners clothes and assuming the commoners roles.
He did not separate himself from His subjects but became like one of them; not looking for their approval or acceptance...but their hearts.
There is a king who is a King OF the kings.. He rules the world with truth and with grace.
This king has already come but the people did not receive him
The mission He came to fulfill, He has accomplished.
Now He waits, lifted high on a throne of grace, poised for the moment that all creation has been waiting for since the moment that light first pierced the darkness at the dawn of time.
There is a king who has come and is coming once more.
His reign will have no end. His people will be His very own bride.
There is a good King. His name is Jesus. King Jesus.
May we hold on to this hope. A day is coming when all this is wrong will be made right and all that is broken will be restored.
"Then I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s dwelling is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” And the one sitting on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new!”
